Kenya must reinvent itself!
The SPPG has the goal of transforming politics in Kenya and the rest of Africa. The SPPG Nigeria has paved the way for this unconventional model to be replicated in 20 different African countries
FixPolitics was born in Nigeria in response to the poor performance of public leadership in Africa despite the continent’s immense natural and human wealth. It was founded by Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Vice President for the African Region at the World Bank and a strong advocate for transparency, accountability, good governance, and human capital development. She has also held prestigious positions twice, including as a federal minister in Nigeria.
The Launch of SPPG Kenya
On September 28- 30, 2024, the FixPolitics movement and the SPPG was launched in Kenya in the presence of a Nigerian delegation composed of Dr Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili, the Founder of SPPG and Chair Emeritus of #FixPolitics, Ms. Alero Ayida-Otobo, Chief Executive Officer of SPPG Africa, and Mr. Anthony Ubani, Executive Director of FixPolitics Nigeria. The ceremony was held at the Nairobi Kenya in the presence of the Kenyan team including Prof. H.E Erastus J.O. Mwencha, Co-Convener of FixPolitics Kenya; Nancy Muigei, also Co-Convener of FixPolitics Kenya, and other intellectuals.
The event was enhanced by the presence of experts, members of civil society, academics, students, and other guests before whom the delegation presented the FixPolitics movement and the SPPG. This important delegation met with key stakeholders in Kenya, including official authorities, the diplomatic corps, NGOs, academics, women, youth, as well as other segments of the Kenyan society. The project was warmly received by the Kenyan delegation.

The Fixplitics Kenya movement
The FixPolitics initiative is based on the three fundamental pillars of democracy: the electorate, political leaders and institutions. From these foundations, FixPolitics has formed three Work Study Groups to operationalize its strategy:
- Study and Research Group 1 : “An Empowered and Engaged Electorate”
- Study and Research Group 2 : “Values-Based Leadership”
- Study and research group 3 : “A reformed political, electoral and constitutional environment”
The School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG), as part of the Values pillar of the FixPolitics initiative, has the goal of transforming politics in Kenya and the rest of Africa, by building a massive base and pipeline of a new value-based and disruptive thinking political class with the requisite knowledge and skills to lead effectively.
Vision
We envision a Kenya with competent and responsible public leadership firmly based on ethical principles and dedicated to serving the common good for the benefit of all.
Mission
Our mission is to educate present and future leaders dedicated to the good of the nation and ready to serve as stewards of the well-being of all Kenyans
Our Values
We are guided by these values, which serve as our underlying principles:
- Accountability
- Respect and Tolerance
- Stewardship and Responsibility
- Social justice and inclusiveness
- Ethical leadership, a moral compass based on Integrity and Honesty and respect for the rule of law
These values inform the recruitment of students, the curriculum, our alum work, and partnerships with other universities, research centres, and funding bodies.

Strategic Objectives
Based on our vision, mission, and values, the unconventional SPPG has four main objectives:
- Educate a new cadre of political leaders dedicated to our values and capable of governing Kenya based on the values we uphold.
- Contribute to instilling in politicians and public administrators a deep sense of moral commitment to the common good as a foundation for Kenya’s future prosperity.
- Strengthen the bonds between government, public administration, and citizens by fostering dialogue, accountability and transparency.
- Create an enabling environment for an inclusive civil society where citizens are aware of their rights and obligations, and emboldened to act in the public interest.
